Meet The Founder

Khalid Riad

Founder and Owner, FieldTech ATX

Khalid spent more than 18 years building software at technology companies. Then he started his own HVAC and plumbing company. Running it day to day showed him exactly which tools were missing, and that is where FieldTech began.

The path here

From the keyboard to the job site, and back.

  1. 18+ years

    Building software

A long career building software at technology companies: systems, products, and the habits of turning messy problems into working tools.

  2. Then

    Running a service company

Khalid started his own HVAC and plumbing company, trading product roadmaps for service calls, crews, and customers.

  3. Day to day

    Learning operations

Running the business every day showed where the work actually slowed down, and which tools were missing for the people doing it.

  4. Now

    Building FieldTech

FieldTech grew out of that gap: software shaped by an owner who has been on both sides, the code and the job.

Why an owner built it

FieldTech starts from the truck: a voice-first tool for HVAC, plumbing, and other trade crews, meant to reduce the office work that piles up after a long day in the field. Khalid brings both perspectives to it, years of building software and the daily reality of running a service business in Austin.

What guides the work

Four goals behind FieldTech

These are the principles the product is built toward, not promises of specific results.

01

Keep jobs moving

The goal is less waiting between the call, the visit, and the finished job.

02

Cut the paperwork

Crews should not have to rebuild the day at a desk after they get home from the field.

03

Know the customer

The history of the customer and their equipment should be there when the next visit starts.

04

Make growth visible

Owners deserve a clear view of how the business is doing, so decisions are not guesses.
